For HP, the year 2010 is best in many ways like on July 1, 2010, HP acquired Palm Inc. for 1.2 billion in cash and debt. Before the acquisition, there were many rumors about Palm and other companies like HTC, Dell, RIM and HP.
After addition of Palm’s product in HP’s line up provides a strong position to HP in mobile phone market. This decision of HP increases their value in handset market. One more thing which benefits HP is that the addition of Palm brings HP a library of valuable patents as well the mobile operating platform known as webOS. On September 2, 2010, HP has won its bidding war for 3PAR with a share offer ($2.07 billion).
On August 6, 2010, Mark Hurd who was the CEO of HP resigned because of the amid controversy and Cathie Lesjak who was the CFO at that time took temporary responsibility of CEO. On September 30, 2010, Leo Apotheker was appointed as the new CEO of HP and President as well.
