Few minutes back, I have published a post in which I have shared the news of winning “Brand of the Year” Award in Pakistan by HP Pakistan. Right now, there is great news for HP lovers and fans that HP has also got the place in top 10 of BEST GLOBAL GREEN BRANDS 2011’s RANKING. HP have secured 5th place in the list of top 50 Global Green Brands for the Year 2011.
As the world’s leading technology company with solutions ranging from data centers to personal computers, sustainability presents opportunities for HP – as well as challenges. In terms of performance, the company has shown its commitment to designing data centers around local energy availability with its award-winning Wynard U.K. data center, "Eco-POD" modular centers, and research into manure-powered facilities. The company also offers a special online "EcoSolutions" store where customers can purchase greener products. After being targeted by Greenpeace in 2009, the brand has made progress in removing toxic substances from its product line. Recently an "Unlocking Your Energy" global event was kicked off in the U.S. as the company looks to tap into demand for energy-efficient solutions from businesses and consumers. While HP’s performance is getting worse rather than better for energy, GHG emissions, water, and waste, it scores well in products and services due to its green packaging initiatives, ecosystem protection efforts, sale of green products, product certification, and life cycle analysis of their products. Overall, the brand performs well in terms of environmental sustainability – it just needs to communicate it more effectively.
I would like to congratulate HP on achieving this position and that’s HP says Everybody On.
