Fashion and technology have some relation with each other. Yesterday, during Mercedez Benz Fashion Week in Marchesa Runway Show, HP come up with something very surprising which world is not expecting in a fashion show and week as well. HP captured the Spring line in 3D images and showed them at a party afterwards via a core enabling technology, HP 3D Live that combines the power of multiple inexpensive projectors to quickly and automatically create a scalable “super-projector.”
HP Live 3D is also known as “plurabis” technology is actually a technology that lets HP film live events for instant streaming in 3D. HP showcased this technology in this year’s International Consumer Electronics Show. HP have captured and rendered 3D images of the “looks,” which were displayed on large format 3D screens at the celebration last night. Using 3D, HP was able to recreate the experience of the show. Attendees had the chance to experience the “looks” in an immersive and realistic way. According to Ann Finnie who is the PR Manager in HP during a conversation with Progmic:
HP believes that live 3D has enormous potential for industries such as fashion retail, medical, enterprise decision support, as well the music and sports industries. HP Live 3D offers a rich visual experience that can empower artists to transform how they express their art and present it to their customers.

Ann Finnie also stated that:
HP has a four year history of R&D around 3D technology and we’re focused on improving every aspect of the 3D experience, from lens to screen. HP believes that there is enormous potential for 3D in the consumer and commercial spaces and we are committed to developing technology for creating, transporting and displaying 3D content. We’re innovating the way 3D content is created and experienced, from the Workstations and core IT infrastructure for rendering 3D images, to new display innovations and auto-stereoscopic technology that eliminates the need for 3D glasses. HP 3D Live technology was developed as part of our research on technology that adapts to how consumers interact with information, content and entertainment – both today and into the future. The HP Personal Systems Group’s Innovation Program Office, headed up by Phil McKinney, aims to translate ideas into products and services that will provide PSG with new market opportunities. The program selects a small number of these promising new ideas in various stages of development and provides funding and staffing to accelerate the speed at which they can be brought to market. The ideas come from inside and outside of HP, and in most cases from HP Labs, employees, consumers or customers. We utilize the ideas and technologies in various ways throughout the stages of investigation and development: demonstrative, incubator, industry “in situ” and in labs with strategic customers.
HP partnered with Marchesa at Fashion Week for an “in situ” lab at The Plaza Hotel in New York City for its Spring 2012 line which was simply outstanding. HP have also collaborated with Marchesa and Swarovski for a design + tech exploration, and created a unique piece of tech art that was unveiled at the after-party celebration. I am very thankful to Ann for providing us the pictures of this event.
